The Cat’s Meow: June

29 Jun

This month has simply flown by! There’s a lot keeping me inspired these days so I’ve put together another collection of things to purr over! Here they are:

^I love everything about this room

^Some lovely paper craft— wish I knew who the artist was!

^This picture of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, pre-Fleetwood Mac is making me swoon pretty hard

^This watermelon keg is killing meeeee

^I would love to hang this print in my house! (I also love this Ron Swanson portrait by the same illustrator)

^I do believe this is one of the loveliest collars I have ever seen

^I can’t listen to this Fleet Foxes song enough

^Can I just recreate this outfit and prance about the city?!

LINK LOVE:

This bike poster is simple + true.
I’m a little obsessed with this ”Call Me Maybe” mashup!
If you ever need a pick me up then just look at this picture list.
This “Everyone is Guilty” article is short but raises some great points.

What kind of neat internet shenanigans have you found lately?

It’s already time for this month’s Collection of Things to Purr Over!

^ this Baroque necklace would fit right into my wardrobe

^This amazing table scape is what my dreams are made of!

^I can’t wait to use this tutorial from The Painted Hive!

^I seriously want these winged Adidas ballet flats— you only live once, right?

^This wood pallet dining table is calling me!

^These handmade books by Natalie Stopka are absolutely stunning! I can’t wait to have a space where I can focus on my craft again.

^I’m super into this retro inspired look right now!

Have you found any drool-worthy goodies lately? I can’t wait to turn all the inspiration I have found lately into something tangible!

The Cat’s Meow : March

29 Mar

This month has flown by! I changed jobs, Nick is graduating soon, and we are looking for a new place to live so things are becoming more and more hectic each day. Plus with the trees blooming already it seems like everything is so new and fresh! I’m feeling inspired daily so I thought I’d share another round of The Cat’s Meow: A Collection of Things to Purr Over so you can peak at all the neat things I’ve been enjoying lately!

1. These Baked Typefaces are so lovely!

2. This Love Balloon Pillow is simple, easy, and effective!

 3. This vintage book is so swoon worthy!

4. This jump roping poodle cracks me up!

5. These extremely relatable comics by Bikeyface are really something special. (I may or may not have read through every single one when I discovered her site because they are all that good . . . )
 6. This Peach Cake looks so perfect right now!

7. I can hardly ever find bracelets I like but I am absolutely head over heels for this Saturn Charm Bracelet

8. It’s getting so warm out I can barely stand the thought of biking with a backpack. I have been keeping an eye out for the perfect saddle bag but I think I might have to make my own by mashing these two ideas together.
9. This cat eating pizza is the best

10. I am always begging my former roommate and best friend Tyler Walker (also known as Meth Dad, also known as the founder of the music/bike festival Tour de Fun) for new music. He started Stay Magical Mixtapes to put out monthly free playlists on and I just can’t stop listening to the first one. Click the album to download!

I’ve got peaches+soygurt to eat, letters to write, bikes to ride in 80* weather, and cupcakes to recipe test. What’s making you smile lately?

Hear, Hear! : The Cat’s Meow

7 Feb

I have some news! This is the first edition of what I am calling The Cat’s Meow: A Collection of Things to Purr Over. I really enjoyed the last two times I shared lists of little treasures that are making me happy, so I decided to make a regular feature out these posts from now on. So here is a little glimpse of what is inspiring me in February:

1. These diy Valentine’s Day cake stands make such a delightful tablescape! I would love to create a little dessert bar someday.

2. I am dying to make this simple + sweet chain collar necklace

3. I highly recommend reading The Styling Dutchman’s post: Feminism as Extremism; here is one part I loved:

“I’m here to raise awareness, to make you think about your position in life. Next time feminism comes up in a conversation, I urge you to keep things simple. Tell them that yes, you are a feminist, and ask your detractors why they are against equal opportunity for every individual, regardless of the contents of their underpants. More broadly: please, don’t be afraid to fight for your beliefs, to educate yourself, to think. Our ancestors fought hard to give us those opportunities. And don’t forget: we are ancestors to be, and our decisions have consequences.”

4. Speaking of feminism, I am dying to read the book Wheels of Change: How Women Rode the Bicycle to Freedom (with a Few Flat Tires Along the Way):
 5. Speaking of bikes, I can’t even explain how happy this photo from Bike Fancy makes me!
I have a really hard time staying chic in the cold and when that’s coupled with biking then I just end up feeling like a hot mess (which I don’t really mind, but apparently being a fashion consultant comes with certain expectations!). Luckily this winter has been extremely mild, but since I am working on improving my style in general, learning to be as cute is this girl (is that even possible?) would be pretty handy.

6. Speaking of fashion, I am obsessed with wedges lately! I’m not personally ready for some of the more extreme ones out there, but I can really appreciate a timeless wedge done right. For me: clean lines, classic details, and versatility come first, like so:

7. And lastly . . . my blog’s facelift! I wasn’t happy with the previous changes, so I tried again. I have been a bit preoccupied with my job recently because I got a promotion (yay!) so I haven’t been able to document as many things as I want. Also, I maybe misplaced my camera for a while there…
header evolutionSo rather than working on content, I have been working behind the scenes on the appearance of my blog— new header, color scheme, background, and sidebar! If you are not familiar with the old layout, you can see it here. I really think these changes were much needed.  Now I can’t wait to keep posting and sharing little peaks into my life.

What’s inspiring you lately?

A Few of My Favorite Things

20 Dec

1. I have always loved brown paper (and newspaper) wrapped packages, but this hand-drawn gift wrap takes the love to a whole new level!
2. Although I usually avoid orange, I am head over heels for this cat print dress!

3. This poster for a hypothetical match between two of my all time favorite tv show characters is cracking me up:

4. This vintage Italian mosaic brooch is so charming. I’d pin it to coats for a pop of color or wear it on a gold chain with pretty spring dresses.

5. This handmade book of words we don’t normally use is incredible:

6. This Houndstooth Shoe Diy is so inspiring!

Hump Day Highlights

9 Nov

I don’t know about you, but it’s a bit dreary here in Tennessee due to the rain. The damp weather and earlier sunset (thanks to time “falling back”) means the middle of this week is looking rather sad. It seems like the perfect day to share some of the treasures I have been inspired by throughout this week:

^ this elephant ring from randyberry

^ this photo from belle + beau^ this vegan bag from lulus

^ this incredible stop motion music video made with jellybeans

^ this pretty way to store earrings & jewelry

-  -  -  -  -

I guess this post makes it a bit obvious how much I love jewelry & accessories. I never used to wear necklaces or belts or change my purses out, but nowadays, I don’t feel “put together” until these finishing touches are made. Oh the woes of a Fashion Consultant!

Now, if your mid-week slump is still unshaken, you can click here to see more things I like. I’m off to make more lists and possibly win some free snacks at trivia night, YUM!
